I found out that a parent of mine has been using drugs for over a long period of time. It has been really sad and emotional to see this person sufffer from not only this addiction but mental health issues too. That side of my family seems to have completely broken down and I feel like I’m the only one left supporting this family member. I don’t feel like this family member is motivated or ready to give up this addiction and I feel like I don’t know how to help or what to do anymore as I’ve tried to be as supportive as I can. I can’t seem to get the situation out of my head as I’ve had awful nights sleep and been busy with work recently too. I’m hoping that maybe if I speak about it and hear other stories I can try and find other ways to deal with it and support this member. Any ideas on some next steps and ways to move forward would be amazing.
