Hi , I have been living with my partner for four years, ,,,stupidly I knew he smoked 'a bit' of took me a long time to realise he is so dependent on it and the last year especially it has caused so many arguments. He works as a taxi driver and the last year as soon as he is home (or on the way home) he has to have a drink and then later a joint....I have told him that one day I will have enough ..which happened Christmas day...I found he weed and threw it out..boxing day he was supposd to b best man at my daughters wedding but said he wasn't going (sulking ) I went and told him to go (which has happened before but this time I packed his stuff) I KNOW I NEED TO LET HIM GO especially for my boys sake ,,BUT I feel so so sad that he has chosen his drug over us ...

This must be very hard for you and I just wanted to let you know that if you need any support there is help available. The Icarus Trust is a charity supporting families of drug and alcohol dependents. We have trained volunteers who would be able to talk with you if you felt that might help you. They are very experienced and it is a free service. It often helps to know that you are not alone in how you are feeling.

Good luck.
