It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day service delivery, but it’s equally important that you spend some time periodically to step back and assess how healthy you are as an organisation and where you can improve. Organisational Health may cover governance, financial management, marketing and communications, partnership building, outcome measurement, HR, legal compliance, strategic planning, policies and procedures, and much more. There are a number of different websites and toolkits that have links to a wide range of useful resources, including templates and best practice. In addition to highlighting these below, we have also identified a number of more subject specific resources that you may find useful.

The Whole Picture
Sets out the basic things organisations need to have in place to be legal, healthy and robust. This includes a wealth of advice and information on governance, recording and measuring impact, business planning and strategy, policies and procedures, and much more.
An online self assessment tool to identify areas of strength and areas where improvements can be made. On completion you can print a report listing all your findings and gain advice on how to strengthen different areas. Covers compliance, governance, direction, finance, people, operations, networks and revitalising the organisation.
NCVO have a range of free guides and resources on a number of subjects relevant to organisational health, including: strategy, managing change, planning for the future, governance and leadership, collaborative working, HR and employment, information and communication technology, and impact measurement.
An online community of nonprofit people sharing their questions and experience. Amongst other useful information there is detail about how to set up an organisation, employment law and HR, organisational development, funding and income, commissioning and procurement, communications and the media, governance, and leadership.
Public Health eLearning Toolkit
This Toolkit has been developed by qualified information professionals at the UK Health Forum, to support the public health workforce in using and appraising information in their work. It includes resources on correct use of copyright, referencing and critical appraisal.

The Carer's Support Outcome Profile (CSOP) is a validated outcome measurement tool jointly developed by Bridge and the University of Bradford. The tool is designed to measure outcomes for the families and concerned others of people who are involved in substance misuse.
