Parents, carers and family members who are supported in improving relations within the family, and their confidence and self-esteem, are more likely to communicate effectively with their children about drugs.
With this in mind, the Bouncing Back! programme supported good practice with families in the field of substance misuse prevention and awareness. The project built and developed good practice, knowledge and expertise to engage vulnerable family members, carers and parents in drug education initative.
The major output of this project was the Bouncing Back! creative learning pack for drug and alcohol prevention work with families.
This is a collection of creative learning activities for use with family members to develop skills, knowledge and awareness and is designed to be used in informal, educational group settings with parents, carers, young people and families. Exercises include work on resilience and parenting; communication in families; diversity in family life and different approaches to drugs and alcohol; and social and economic factors and influences.
