My codeine addiction by

Hi Yes I'm still completely clean and I feel so much better. Codeine was doing things to me that I didn't even notice until I got clean. As soon as I got through the withdrawals I kept going and never looked back. I know that sounds easy, but the withdrawals were hell. I get cravings still, but not as much as I thought I would. I would highly recommend going to your doctor. I was terrified to see mine and thought I'd lose my job...but she was extremely supportive. I would make an appointment with your GP, tell a relative or a close friend. Email all the places you've been buying codeine from and tell them you have a problem with it, so they won't sell it you anymore. I had to tell someone because my doctor gave me a script of codeine to wean off and my friend had to stay with me and give me tablets when I was struggling with withdrawals. Without my friend keeping them safe and giving them to me I would have just taken the whole lot. So tell someone you trust, get them to go to the gp with you. If you are worried that you'll end up buying it from local chemist's then also email or call them, or go in and explain that they shouldn't sell it you. Your doctor should also give you details on how you self refer to a drug and alcohol service. Don't worry, it's not like on films where you sit in a circle and speak about how you ended up here. They do all sorts of different stuff. It's also really important to make a list of why you want to get clean. Make this list when you are at your lowest point. Then when you feel like taking codeine again, look back on that list to remember why you stopped! It's not easy, but it is possible. If you need anything else then please contact me. I'll do anything I can to help you. I'm happy to give you my number if you wanted it or my email, if not then just message me here :).
