Codeine Addicition Experience by CodeinePhosphaddictHi , I had my last solpadeine last weekend, I had been taking tramadol, which is much higher dose than over the counter codeine products. I tapered over a few days. And so far so good, dodgy tummy and fell flu like at times, but my head is clear. They're so so addictive and the effects on the body are bad. Get help from GP or NA if you need it. You'll feel so much better if you have a plan to taper. I did cold turkey before and it was hell. Went back on it straight away. The taper was easier. Best of luck. If I can do it, anyone can.
My Codeine problem by UnlikelyAddictI had my last solpadeine at 3 am, and solpadeine is such a low dose of codeine compared to the prescription codeine I had been taking. So far so good, stomach a bit dodgy at time, and o do feel shivery. Contemplated taking some benzos if required, but that's just the insanity of addiction, swapping one for another. Think I'll go for a short walk now. We can do it, we deserve to be free of this horrible disease.
Opinions please? by LoversonthesunHi there, well done on accepting it's an issue, I am in AA for alcohol and cocaine addiction, and I'm now detoxing from codeine. I never realised that alcohol was my biggest problem, do you feel you have any issue with your drinking? Drink lowers the inhibitions and we do things we'd never dream Of whilst sober. It's a horrible place to be in, I too don't 'seem the type' to get into addiction, but here I am. It disregards social Class, education and gender. Go to a dr and get refered for addiction counselling maybe? Best of luck. Let us know how you get on.
Starting to detox any advice? by Nina30It's just a horrible way to live. I really do wish these medications were all under prescription only. You seem so determined, and it's given me a wee boost too.
