Announcement on the future of the NTA

As part of the government's plan to scale back arm's-length bodies, the National Treatment Agency will become part of the new Public Health Service by 2012. It will be abolished as a statutory organisation but its activities and responsibilities will be transferred to the new body.

The NTA has proved consistently willing to engage with issues relating to families and we hope that this focus will not be lost during its transition to a new department.
