Hi everyone I am one month codeine free today ! I was taking round about the same dose as yourself Dr8253 30/500 cocodamol or Dihydrocodeine if I could get my hands on them. I cannot imagine taking 64 per day Codeine14years and I just want to say you should be extremely proud of yourself to taper them down to what you have. Now I’m going to be honest with you both – I did it cold turkey. I was at the stage I just wanted that poison out of my body so I stood the discomfort ( which wasn’t overly overly bad) put it this way I managed to work and look after my family while I did it. So I’ll tell you both what has helped me. Please please do NOT fear the withdrawal- it won’t kill you and after day 3-4 it subsides. You will have very loose bowels but Imodium will help immensely. Take lemsip / hot lemon flu drinks for the aches as basically your body is purging the drug and it’s exactly like a bad flu! That is all! Don’t fear it just do it and free yourself. If you can get hold of some Diazapam 5mg from someone then it will help immensely with any anxiety and with the insomnia.3 nights worth will help. Then go on to Nytol. Take plenty drinks with electrolytes, keep BUSY! And be easy on yourself . Write a list of the pros and cons of taking these tablets and I promise you when you look at it written you will see that the cons outweigh the pros..they are evil tablets. Also move your body – exercise and try to get your natural endorphins fired up again. You can both do this! Three days discomfort is worth it compared to the bondage of being a slave to codeine. Do things you love! Soul search and try to figure out why you feel you need to take codeine to be happy. This is what I did and I can safely say I have no cravings at all and I just know I was ready for these things to move out of my life. Now remember if you slip up – don’t beat yourself up. Remove all feelings of guilt and shame NOW because those feelings will drive you back to codeines arms. You can both do this !!!!!!!
