Hi Tammy, well done on starting again and posting about your journey. I very much understand your pain – it would have been day 3 for me, too, but I slipped and took the usual easy way out with N+. I’m annoyed at myself, truly, but it’s important to continue to try.
I first started using codeine-based painkillers about 2 years ago after sustaining a back injury (the usual story) and have been on and off them ever since. Up until two weeks ago I’d done a month and a half off them, but time and time again I let myself slip. This time I had hurt my back again, and even though I knew I’d struggle to get off them, I took my chance and got back on them. Big mistake.
I plan to start cold turkey again tomorrow and this time really stick around here and try and stay amongst like-minded people. It’s very much doable – but it needs the right mindset, and as you say, make sure you’re aware that you KNOW it’s going to be hard, but to cope with it and just get through.
All the best, everyone!
