Often cravings can be a brain biochemical deficiency or a part of the brain not getting what it needs. I used to go through cycles of binge drinking to try and and shut my brain off, also I used to have similar cycles with cocaine when I had access to it.
I’d go weeks feeling fine-ish, teetotal then put the blue would be impelled by a force stronger than myself and the whole thing would start over.

The consultant said the frontal part of the brain was not getting what it needs and this was manifesting as intense craving and binge cycles. Once it got what it needed then the binge cycles stopped.
I now take a very low maintenance dose of the prescribed ADHD medication but I’m looking to stop this and use the amino supplements instead as these can stop the same dysfunctions in a more natural way.
