I don’t know the answer to that. However the very fact that you have self referred is a good thing as it is your desire to stop using (and not your family enforcing you to abstain) Thefact that your not in denial about your problem is great – as you show a desire to change for the better. I am hoping the kids are cared for ie fed clothed, clean, etc and socially and emotionally unaffected by your usage (and that any drugs are kept locked away out of reach).
It is better that you get help sooner rather than later as your tolerance and therefore usage will only increase and your children will grow with your addiction.
If you have friends/family to confide in – I am sure they could look after the children for a temporary measure until you get clean.
Getting clean is probably the easy bit …staying clean/sober is more testing. AA groups are excellent – don’t be afraid to attend.
Don’t feel ashamed to tell people, just get the help you need – you wouldn’t keep a broken leg a secret!
Good luck and keep on trying:)

Hi.
I too have 3 kids but have only attended meetings that keep your anonymity for fear of losing my children.
If your kids are not affected by your addiction like mine aren’t then I would not bring it to the attention of the authorities or at least play it down. Obviously if it is affecting the kids then you have to be honest for them.
Good luck
