My dad has been struggling with alcohol for some time now. Started off with a few drinks after work then a few more to him drinking at work and then loosing his job. It’s slowly got worse over the years and he admits to being an alcoholic but will not do anything to help himself . My mam recently left him as she had her own battle with cancer and could not be brought down by him any longer . So I’m currently trying to keep him together as well as working full time . I feel speaking about it will help me as I always forget to look after myself and don’t like to talk about family problems as I feel people can be judgmental rather than helpful. It’s hard because I really want to be able to help my dad but he will not help himself currently sleeping and drinking all day. I thought maybe this forum would make my life seem a little bit more normal as other people are dealing with similar struggles and I would like to support other people as well I receive support myself .
