My son is a drug addict and has been for years he’s in his 40s now and has recently come back to stay with us following a serious injury. He’s been off some drugs for a few months but last night went out and got some and I don’t know how I can’t cope or live with him like this but he’s not fit to live alone he has physio and hospital appointments

Dear Jillybob
How hard this must be for you. I always try to remind myself that our addicts make choices and they are not always good ones. But when in crisis, this goes out of the window.
I hope you have some support for yourself.
Here if you need an ear.

Hi Jillybob,
This is really hard for you and, as Caroline says you may want some support for yourself. The Icarus Trust is a charity that provides support for people, like yourself , who are dealing with the impact of a partner’s addiction. We have trained people who you could talk with, if you think that would be helpful. Talking with someone who understands may help you to move forward and see what other support might be available.
You can contact us on help@icarustrust.org or visit the website http://www.icarustrust.org
Good luck with everything.
