So I’m 33, and for as far back as I remember my mother has always drank. But she is a functioning alcoholic ad my father informed me. As in she works hard all week house is clean, groceries in but every night she drinks her self stupid and gets up the next day and goes to work. She drinks vodka and coke every night, and cannot go 1 night without it.

She used to say it was because she used to suffer panic attacks when she was younger. But she is now 57 and her attitude is awful, she has no friends (previous friends were people who popped in for a few hours to drink)… She is not a nice person at all. Very hard to get on with and treats my dad like dirt.

She seems to be getting worse as the years go on. She now can have a night out, come home and drink more at home where most people come home and fall into bed. She has to drink until she is bladderd.

My dad keeps saying she wont wake up some morning and now as im getting older im getting more worried as the reality of it all sinks in.

Can anyone share any of their stories or experiences that are similar no matter how sad or gruesome. I apologise for the long rant.

      Thanks
