Hey, new to doing all of this. But i’m laura and have a mam whose an alcholic.. shes been an alcholic for around 10 years but was always a heavy drinker before hand. I don’t live with her as i have my own family but my dad still lives with her. In august she was diagnosed with bowel cancer. She needs operated on and there hoping to operate next week but her drinking hasn’t gotten any better, its just got worse. She went to a hospital in kendal for a weeks detox before her op and only got back yesterday. When i woke up today my dad was round and guess what? My mam was drunk!! It never gets easier,the amount of times shes let us down you would think it would! I feel like the failure, i’m always worrying about her, always getting upset ect. I’ve never met anyone else who has a close one with an addiction so would be really lovely to talk to someone and support eachother 🙂 thanks for reading. Laura xx
