My Mother Was a Alcoholic,

I Don’t Need to tell you all how that feels like as you all have been down similar paths and my heart goes out to you all,

My mother stopped drinking 10 months ago only because the doctors at the hospital called me and my brother in to say goodbye they said her kidneys were failing her retina etc,

She was not even 6 stone, I took a pic of my brother holding her hand,

She made it through that might and has continued to since,

She still amazes doctors how much her body has fought,

She had stage 4 breast cancer (she was drinking then but not as much), the outlook wasn’t good but she got through it,

Then she started drinking a litre of vodka a day,

I tried telling her “look at all the people even your friends who would love to have a second chance at life and you have been given that and your wasting it”,

But as everyone knows you cannot talk any sense to an alcoholic,

As it is as the moment, I was happy because after 44 years of my life without a loving mother, I finally have one and sober as well,

She messages me like a normal person and even puts “love you loads” and I feel amazing (it’s all I ever wanted),

But I know she has damaged her major organs too badly,

She is still about 6 and half maybe 7 stone, can hardly walk, so I got her a mobility scooter she loves so much, she has good days and goes out with my brother to buy some fish and chips etc,

So this year I decided to go and stay with my husbands side of the family for Xmas because he hasn’t seen them for so long,

I hadn’t received a message from my mother in 2 days so I messaged her and said “please don’t stop messaging me even if your not well because I’ll worry”

And she messaged back saying “she just wanted me to enjoy myself” (as I’ve had a load of health issues myself this year)

But told her i want her to message me,

I don’t know what to do she told me she isn’t feeling well, and has gone right off her food and says she is just depressed because its so cold and she cant go out,

Does anyone have any tips on anything that might give her, her appetite back?

I’m really sorry this is so long, I’m new here and I live in the UK,

My heart goes out to every single person on here with what there struggling with ❤️
