So as it says, my sister is a heroin addict. It all started when were children, my dad was brutally murdered outside our home with my sister witnessing the whole thing at the age of 11. A few years down the line aged 14, she turned to heroin. I grew up beginning to think this was normal, although my mum shielded me from the bulk of what was going on. Constant over doses, hospital stays, the all night worrying and constant wonder of someone knocking the door to say she is dead. At one point, we turned a corner, she turned her life around, also having a child which seemed to change her. Many years passed and now here we are September 2017, 18 years down the line and she has suffered a relapse. Which has completely spiralled, from taking heroin to smoking crack. Resulting in losing custody of her child. Where does this end?

      Hello Xoxo,
Thank you for posting your story. It is so sad to read what an awful time that you have had.
If you would like to talk with people who would understand the worry you feel for your sister maybe you’d find it helpful to get in touch with the Icarus Trust. We are a charity that supports people who are dealing with the addictive behaviour of a loved one. We offer a free service called ‘Family Friends’ who you could talk with.
You can contact us on help@icarustrust.org or visit the website http://www.icarustrust.org
I hope that this might help you get some support for yourself. All the very best.
