Hey so I’m totally new to this and never imagined I would be turning to an online forum for support because 1 of my children have an addiction to drugs, but here I am ????
My 19 year old son has an addicted to lean also known as dirty sprite. It’s basically prescription-strength cough medicine containing high levels of codeine mixed with a drink usually sprite hence the name dirty sprite! It costs £30-£40 a bottle and my son has at least 1-2 bottles every day. Myself & his dad are worried sick that our son will take enough of this one day that he won’t wake up from it. He funds his habit by selling weed, another addiction and he also has been known to take coke as well. He has got himself into debt with his ‘dealer’ a number of times and we have got into debt to pay his debt! I’ve been to the GP and all they suggest is talking therapy but my son is beyond that now and won’t participate in this anyway. He says he wants to stop but just cant. We are just so worried now that the only way this will end is with our son over dosing and dying it’s that simple ????. Have any other parents been through this with this particular addiction? We are at our wits end now and just don’t know what to do to help our son.

The Rob hill foundation , if u look up ‘Chris hill beat my addictions ‘they do workshops that are free to help people beat there addictions it might be someone else to talk to worth a try and even for support for you , I went as my previous partner had a cocaine addiction and my eldest was on weed and I found it helpful to get ideas and tips they deal with all sorts of addiction from drugs to sugar. Another avenue to try , kids are such a worry xx
