Hi I’m new to this sort of thing but wanted to talk to people going through similar issues, my mam and dad are both alcoholics and have been since I was young, I lost my mam last year to drink and my dad has been very poorly ( heart attack and most of his Pancras removed) he has been in and out of hospital many times and always comes home and buys vodka again, I’ve tried everything and I really don’t know what I can do anymore

If he don’t wanna help himself there isn’t much you can really do. I know that’s hard to hear but it’s the truth they need to want to help themselves before anyone can help them. Sorry your going through this. Been there with my partner but his evil was drugs

Hi Claire,
If you think it would be useful, please contact The Icarus Trust as we are a charity that supports people going through what you are, dealing with family member’s addiction.
You could talk to one of our people who are trained and experienced and would listen to you. May be talking to them would help you make sense of things.
You can contact us on help@icarustrust.org or visit the website http://www.icarustrust.org
Good luck.
