I met a man last year and we got on great. I knew he had to take certain ‘meds’ and ne et really thought too heavily about it.
about 3 months in, I noticed lots of empty blister packs of cocodamols. I asked and he said he took more than his prescribed dose because he was in such pain. I trusted him and said no more about it. Then about 4 months ago after I moved in, I’m finding lots of over the counter empty packets, that have been poorly hidden, along with empty boxes of the same drug with someone else’s name on; quite obviously he’s getting them off ‘a friend’ I have said about the side effects but he denies this and says it gives him energy not lethargy and dulls his pain.
We have spoken about it, he said he needs them for the pain whilst he is working but he will come off them next year when he gives up work. Given the high doses he is on, I don’t think that is remotely feasible. He has said he gave them up once before and is confident he can do it again but I’m still really unsure.
I want to help and support him but I’ve no experience in the field and I’m starting to become overwhelmed. In one day recently his use from 1 day to the next was 46 tablets of 30/500mg of cocodamol; for me that’s dangerous.
Anyone with any similar experiences?
