      Hi

This is my first time posting on this site. My son is 33, living at home with my husband and I and has been addicted to cocaine for at least 5 years that I am aware of. We have tried various forms of help for him which have worked initially, but then he has relapsed and gone back to his old ways. He recently hit a low point whereby is he missing days at work and consequently been dismissed from work (only working temporary contracts at the moment). However we finally had a breakthrough recently when he told us he was signing up to attend a CA class with a friend of his. He has attended several group sessions over the last month and has been nominated a sponsor to work through the 12 steps with him. He spoke quite enthusiastically about the groups for the first week or 2 and although he is still attending, doesn’t really talk about it much. He asked to borrow money from us to buy books and register for online group classes (although we believed CA to be a free service) and it now transpires that the money was to be more cocaine. He refuses to talk to us about how the scheme works and says that he is still allowed to be doing Coke every day !  I find this hard to believe but have no way of finding out if this is the case or not. We are obviously keen to help and support him but have no idea how this works and if I’m fact he should still be doing Coke … our thoughts are that he should at least be cutting down if not abstaining altogether?  Is anyone able to offer any advice how the classes/programme works please??

      <p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi worried mum,</p>
im sorry to hear what you are going through.

CA is an abstinence based program meaning staying clean off all substances.

CA online meetings are free too.

You can call the CA phone line, number on Google to ask how the program works

addiction is such a sneaky thing!

      good luck xxx
