Hi Caro, I have a 22 year old daughter who has been just as you describe your son, with a husband also shut down. Eventually after three harrowing years she got herself into rehab, and is there at the moment. she was using heroin and crack. it was the mental health services who got her involved with the drug support team. She had a psychotic episode which triggered Early intervention team. I have gained a lot of support from a Rethink families group. you are not alone. big hug to you. its so hard when they are young and still need lots of help, so hard to set boundaries and see them suffer. My daughter wrecked the house. bannisters kicked out ;doors kicked through, baths overflowing at 4 in the morning. constantly borrowing /taking money. I blamed myself. Now I’ve learned that doesn’t help.
