    Hi Emma,

I hope you are well. So its countdown time for me. I’m lucky enough to go on holiday next Monday for 10 nights. Whether I like it or not therefore, I wont be taking codeine during this time. I am also hoping to get through the majority of the withdrawal symptoms before I go so I can actually enjoy my holiday. So its day 1 without the N+. Wish me luck!

How are you today? Any dosing or is it a clean day? We can do this! x

    Hi Ashamed101,

Your story sounds very similar to mine. I agree, I’m also surprised at how unknowledgeable the GP’s are.

I also had blood tests about two weeks ago, not heard anything but wasn’t expecting to. I asked if the blood tests would pick up damage to stomach/intestines (which i understand are most at risk from N+) to which they almost replied ‘yeah, sure I guess’.

I was also referred to a charity organisation whom basically took all my data and I’ve not had a response since! there do not appear to be NHS options in place for people with our type of addiction.

Tapering down to 32 a day from 64 is amazing, you’re doing really well. The withdrawals are not easy but I have found that they are manageable. I usually start to feel much better around day 3/4 but then have trouble with the mental side of things staying off them.

My advice would be to get some Imodium for the early stages of loose bowel movements. This should help in limiting the amount of times you need to visit the toilet. Its definitely flu like symptoms so if you are able, get bed rest. The runny nose and watery eyes are annoying but usually only last a day or so (I understand it is slightly different for everyone though). I still felt achy after like 5 days but was much more manageable by this time.

I feel I need encouragement to keep off the N+ and therefore it would be good to help each other work through it? I’m still on between 24 and 48 a day but will try yet again to quit this weekend. I would quit today but I’m too worried about shitting myself in public as I have to be a few places tonight/tomorrow!

Good luck to you and please message me if you ever want to chat x

Morning Emma34, thanks for response, I haven’t yet quit CT. I also cave around the 5 day mark. Its probably the time i start to feel physically better but maybe struggle emotionally so end up using again.

I have a holiday coming up where I wont be able to take N+ and therefore i hope to quite CT before so that i can get over the withdrawals before i go on holiday. I’m hoping that quitting before, then being forced not to use for 10 nights will be enough for me not to pick up the nasty stuff again when I return.

i’ll read those recovery road maps to help understand the withdrawals better, thank you.

did the GP prescribe ranitidine for you? I dread to think what damage I’ve done to my stomach and intestines. be good to know if i can obtain some meds to help heal the insides.

We will get our life back Emma, we must! Good luck on your journey and i hope we can help each other on here x.

Ah wow, I wondered what that was. yeah I get a red flushed face with pulse in left ear sometimes. scary if that is due to the overdose of ibuprofen.

Yeah it does feel like the only way to continue is to keep the dose going doesn’t it? especially as the withdrawals will make the anxiety and lack of motivation worse :(. it feels like being completely trapped.

we can do this though! we have to as we wont last forever with these constant doses of N+.

Hope your day is good and lets fight this! speak soon x

For me personally, the withdrawal consists of flu like symptoms with achey joints, extremely tired, runny nose and watery eyes and… extreme diahrea! you can take some immdoium to help counter that but where you would normally have constipation with the codeine, the opposite happens when you stop!

I have had my dose of N+ this morning but i’ll try again to make that my last and therefore lets encourage each other to stay off this nasty shit.

For me, whilst the withdrawals are horrible, i can usually get through the worst of it but for some reason I give up on being strong and relapse after a few days (usually after the worst physical symptoms start to fade). I’m not sure how to address the relapse problem.

Good luck in stopping and happy to check in with each other on here daily to confirm we are getting through this? 🙂 x

    Hi Cinslie,

Many thanks for your post. I have been on around 48 N+ a day and pretty much know that the burden is destroying my insides. Ive tried to quit multiple times and reach the 5 day mark quite often. I’m willing to try again and knowing that I’m doing this at the same time as other will no doubt help.

I have an appointment with a drug and alcohol clinic tomorrow which i hope will provide guidance on how to tackle my addictions. i’ll share any advice i receive in the event i feel it is helpful.

Good luck and I’m with you! x
