Adfam’s East Sussex family support service is entering a new chapter. From Tuesday 1st July 2025 our service will be delivered remotely, offering online support to families affected by substance use living across East Sussex.
This change has been made in collaboration with the East Sussex commissioning team, through the support of a Drug and Alcohol Treatment, Recovery and Improvement Grant (DATRIG).
We’re pleased to announce a new service model that will continue to support families while adapting to the changing landscape of care. The service now offers the following support:
- Tailored One-to-One Support: Every client will receive a comprehensive assessment followed by up to six sessions of personalised one-to-one support, delivered by our experienced sessional team.
- Onward Referral Options: Depending on individual needs, clients may be signposted to further support, including up to six Peer Support Group sessions or up to twelve Counselling sessions.
To ensure we remain deeply connected to local families and services on the ground, we are pleased to also introduce a new Networking and Community Co-ordinator role. In this part-time position, our colleague Ilaria will focus on:
- Promoting awareness of Adfam’s services across East Sussex by actively participating in local service meetings and community events.
- Supporting the development of local family strategies and increasing visibility of Adfam’s work in the region.
- Collaborating with partners to ensure the voices of families affected by a loved one’s substance use are heard and supported.
With the shift to a remote model, some aspects of our former service will be changing. Ongoing, open-ended support will no longer be available while in-person services, workshops and training sessions will not be offered under the new model. Support will now be delivered by Adfam’s central team of practitioners. These adjustments will allow us to deliver targeted, impactful support while continuing to maintain a meaningful presence in the local area.
As we transition into this new chapter, we want to take a moment to express our deepest thanks to two incredible members of the Adfam East Sussex team who will be leaving us following these changes, Mary, who has been with the service since its inception, has shown unwavering commitment, professionalism, and care. Her leadership has played a vital role in reaching and supporting over 500 families. Clare, who joined in 2022, has brought exceptional skill, compassion, and integrity to her work. Her thoughtful approach and ethical practice have been a guiding light for both clients and colleagues.
Their dedication has shaped our service and touched countless lives. We are deeply grateful and wish them both every success and happiness in the future. They will be missed both personally and professionally.
