      Hi guys,

I could write pages on my situation, but from reading the threads I’ve had so much comfort in knowing You’re all in similar situations and still coping.

I have a young daughter (10 months) and 3 months ago we had to move out of my boyfriends house which was our family home because of his cocaine addiction. Like many stories the signs were all there and in the end I made the decision that is wasnt safe for her anymore.

We are in our own house happy now. However I am yet to overcome the issue of him seeing her alone. I dont feel comfortable giving him access whilst he still tests positive for cocaine on tests. It’s been 3 months and he hasnt managed to do this yet.

The latest curveball is that he is now declaring that the antidepressants he has been taking (sertraline) are the reason for the false negatives. He believes these tablets are showing up on the tests as swears he hasnt taken any drugs. But I find this so hard to accept and believe as he has lied so so many times before.

Does anyone know if this is true? Can sertraline cause a false positive? And has anyone got any advice in terms of allowing access to such a young child?

      Thanks for your time.

      Hi

Sorry you’re going through this. In Short NO it wouldn’t have any affect on a test at all. That’s BS. If it is positive for cocaine then you can bet your ass he has used.

People are ridiculous the things they come out with. ????

Thank you so much. He said the doctor told him it could happen, and that when he was told that, a friend took tests who was on sertraline and tested positive for cocaine. Just drives my mind crazy trying to untangle the lies sometimes.

Nope that’s BS, GP’s don’t use drug tests so they wouldn’t know. He has said that because you can’t ask the GP due to confidentiality. Sometimes sertraline may product a false positive for benzo’s (sometimes) but nothing else.

Whenever their mouths open that’s when you know they lie! Harsh but true.
