I’ve realised today that I need to completely give up alcohol! Any tips on staying strong as I really do think I’m going to struggle ???? it’s ruining my life, health and it’s not fair on my partner or children x

I wont lie to you – first few weeks will be hard, but you need a motivation to change – your health is a good one. Once you go beyond a few weeks the benefit in your health and mental wellbeing will take over and should see you thro.
I fell off the wagon twice in 2 years. First time i ended up in hospital (briefly) but second time i could tell the effect on my health incl my mental health and stopped for what i think will be for good now.
Will your family support you re stopping as that is key?

Hi Nick!
Giving up drinking can be very hard, and if you are a dependent drinker, it can even be dangerous! My best advice is to seek advice as to how to go about giving up safely.
You could call Drinkline to get advice and support.
0300 123 1110 is the helpline number.
Best wishes and well done,
Clara
