Dan Carden MP becomes Adfam Ambassador

Adfam is delighted to announce Dan Carden MP as our Ambassador.

Earlier this month, Dan Carden, the MP for Liverpool Walton, opened up about his own alcohol dependency and impact on his family in a powerful and moving speech in the House of Commons. This took place during a debate to celebrate Pride Month, where Dan spoke about the mental health battles he faced growing up as LGBT+ and how this led him to turn to alcohol. You can watch the speech in the video below:

Over recent months, Dan Carden has taken the time to meet with leading experts and charities across the drug and alcohol field, and those in recovery to get a better understanding of addiction, the barriers to treatment and the challenges faced by those working in the drug and alcohol sector. This has included meeting with Adfam to discuss the experiences of and challenges faced by families.

We greatly admire the commitment Dan has shown in raising awareness of the challenges people affected by substance use and their families face, and we are proud that Dan has agreed to become an Ambassador for Adfam to advocate for these families, as well as Vice Chair of the APPG for Alcohol Harm and a Commissioner on the Commission on Alcohol Harm.
